Chikka is new genre that finds a common ground in the 6/8 rhythms shared across the region, from Ethiopia’s ‘Chick Chikka’ to ‘Chakacha’ in Kenya and the ‘Mduara’ of Tanzania to Sechelleye’s ‘Sega’. By blending traditional sounds with contemporary influences, Chikka creates a 10 track album project with a new sonic language that connects the entire region.

Musical collaboration drives our bold experiment. The Horn unites East African artists and diaspora. This cross-border collaboration embraces the creative friction that comes when diverse voices and styles collide, expanding artists’ creative limits and feeding their talent in an innovative and distinct way. The result? A one-of-a-kind, deeply-rooted-yet-unpredictable album and yearly festival in Kenya. 

Mulatu & Kids a reawakening of the soul of Ethio-Jazz, led by the genre’s architect, Mulatu Astatke. The project explores how the past can inform and inspire the future as we blend modern, East African sounds with the timeless essence of Mulatu’s original compositions, creating a completely new soundscape that bridges generations. Mulatu & Kids is about cultural evolution and global recognition for East African music.
